Wonderful Vows

These are wonderful vows: heart felt, clear, clean, not too long, warm, intimate and wonderful.

We can help you write your vows and design your personal wedding ceremony

I stand before you today, and everyday, grateful that you chose me. I have loved you since the moment we met. I couldn’t have wished, dreamt or imagined a better person to spend the rest of my life with. You have provided me with a forever safe space being your partner and best friend. Creating a world where we love endlessly, listen fully and truly embody what the other is feeling. I love you more with each day, and continue to be incredibly proud of your ability to accomplish anything you set your mind to. A drive and passion for life that can only be described as inspiring. You have truly made me a better person, in every aspect of life.

I promise to stand by you through everything life has to offer

I promise to support your thoughts and your feelings

I promise to always look at you the way I did when we first met, forever excited to see your face

I promise to show you how lucky i feel for the love of an incredible man

I promise to be your person, your love, your wife for the rest of our days.

Without you, I would do circles…until I found you again, because it was always you and always will be.

We hope this sharing is helpful to you on your journey and you have enjoyed your visit.

Why no images on our blog?  Wedding images come and go with fashion and with the season, so many and so varied. We feel it is the words you share with each other, during your wedding ceremony, that are some of the most significant and intimate words you will ever share, in your life,  and, like gems, are unique and personal.

from Something Great by M.Clark

During a very tender and intimate family wedding ceremony, in a town park in Charlestown, RI, Ron and Kim shared their wedding vows. What follows is the reading they used during their ceremony. They modified the piece from a paragraph in the book Something Great by M.Clark. Kim took poetic license to make the words more personal for the two of them.  Kim and Ron used these words as a reading in their ceremony. We think the essay  could also easily be the foundation for marriage vows.

“You are the one who lifts me up and never lets my feet touch the ground.
The one who loves me so much and puts me above everything else.
The one who will love me on the sunny days, but will love me most through the heavy, thunderous storms.
Who shelters me, romances me, loves me until you have given me your all.
In return, I promise to love you hard and give back to you all you have given me.”

We hope you have enjoyed your visit and this has been helpful to you on your journey.

Liza and Roger’s Vows

On the Saturday of this past Memorial Day weekend, on a picture perfect day, on a wind-swept hill, on Block Island, in the State of Rhode Island,  Liza and Roger exchanged their vows which united their hearts and lives for life. These are the words, feelings and love they share with each other and proclaim to the world:

Roger’s Vows
~I love that you light up when your near water
I can only imagine its because you’re a sailor’s daughter

~I love that you have made our home in W.V.
but remember wherever you go I go we are now we

~I love that I can always count on you… except for being on time…

~I love that you think I am funnier than I am especially at night when you are giddy. I couldn’t find a rhyme with giddy

~I love that your fingers fit perfectly in mine.
And when your head hits my chest you fall asleep no matter what time

~I love that I knew your father, now I know now where you get your strength, and I love your dedication to family and how you will go to any length.

~I love that you have helped me be the person I am today,
And I know there are many others here that would say the same thing

~I love that you are courageous and untethered and not just with your cooking. And that somehow you knew that I loved burnt or well-done food

~I love that I get to profess, that I LOVE YOU, to everyone around
And all of the things I know about you and all the others I haven’t yet found

~I love that this entire weekend could only be planned by you
And we get to show the world that no one says I do, like we do

Liza’s Vows
~I promise to take care of you forever and ever amen
~I promise to always make you feel my love
~I promise to love you for a thousand years
~I promise I can’t smile without you
~I promise that no one will become between us like two islands in the stream

I stand here today with my heart full.
I have spent years taking care of myself and being the organizer, the decision makers, the person in charge.
You help me STOP and appreciate life and the importance of Love.
You see in me so much talent and possibility.
You see the real LIZA with all of my perfect imperfections. …for that I love you.

I love that you are my ROCK.
I love that you calm my craziness.
I love that when I tell you that we never slow dance, that you pull over on the side of the road and dance with me to music on the car radio.
I love that you LOVE family as much as I do.
I love that you know about the dip in the nose and the baby hair in the small of my back.
I love that you aren’t afraid to cry.
I love that these puppies are your babies too.
I love that you are a creative – always dreaming and discovering.
I love that you make me belly laugh.
I love that you GET me.
I love that we will grow old together.

So today – I make a promise to continue to laugh and discover with you.
I promise to appreciate you in health and take care of you in sickness.
I promise to always pluck the hair from your ears and watch MMA (even though it bores me to death)
I promise to always share my thoughts and make decisions together.
I promise a million more promises as we become partners.
Most importantly, I promise to love you madly, widely, fiercely “just a little” everyday of my life.

We hope sharing Roger and Liza’s vows has been helpful, has touched your heart, and you have enjoyed your visit.

Today’s Vows

Today was a beautiful day in Bristol, Rhode Island and the vows shared by the couple were filled with tenderness, love, hope, and promise.

His vows: I promise to be there when you need me, to fill your days with sunshine, to comfort you and encourage you, to help you reach your goals, to be your best friend ever and to love you all my life with all my heart.

Her vows: Today I give myself to you in marriage. I promise to encourage and inspire you, to laugh with you, and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle. I promise to support your dreams and to respect our differences. I am looking forward to creating a home filled with love and understanding.  You are my best friend and together we will build a family. I will love you all my life with all my heart.

We hope you have enjoyed these words and they have touched your heart.

“Why Marriage?” by Mari Nichols

This wonderful poem by Mari Nichols reads like a marriage vow. We feel the poem speaks wonderfully of the depth of the beauty of love in relationship and the tremendous freedom marriage can provide.

Because to the depths of me, I long to love one person,
With all my heart, my soul, my mind, my body…
Because I need a forever friend to trust with the intimacies of me.
Who won’t hold them against me,
Who loves me when I am unlikable,
Who see the small child in me, and
Who looks for the divine potential of me
Because I need to cuddle in the warmth of the night
With someone who thanks God for me,
With someone I feel blessed to hold…
Because marriage means opportunity
To grow in love, in friendship…
Because marriage is a discipline
To be added to a list of achievements…
Because marriages do not fail, people fail
When they enter into marriage
Expecting another to make them whole…
Because knowing this,
I promise myself to take full responsibility
For my spiritual, mental and physical wholeness.
I create me.
I take half of the responsibility for my marriage
Together, we create our marriage.
Because with this understanding
The possibilities are limitless.

We hope you have enjoyed your visit.

VOWS: Ways To Celebrate Your love

Each couple feels differently about the way they actually say/proclaim their marriage wedding vows. We have seen couples celebrate their vows in a few different ways. Below are a some ideas about how you are able to  share your vows with each other before your families and friends.

1-The celebrant/minister/officiant asks each one of the couple a few questions and each responds individually with “I DO” to the questions.

2-The celebrant/minister/officiant asks the vow questions to the couple as a couple and the couple responds together as a couple saying “WE DO” to the questions.

3-The celebrant/minister/officiant reads a few words and each one of the couple “Repeats” the words spoken by the officiant after the officiant, thus the statement: “Repeat after me”

4- The couple reads their vows to each other. This style has the couple focused on the reading of the vows holding the paper/card/book that the vows are written on. This presents challenges if the couple wants to both hold both hands and look into each others eyes. The focus becomes more on reading the vows than being focused on each other.

5-The celebrant/minister/officiant asks each party a question and each responds individually with “I DO” to the question OR the celebrant asks the couple the vow questions to the couple as a couple and the couple responds together as a couple saying “WE DO” to the questions. THEN the celebrant/minister/officiant reads a few words to each one of the couple individually and each individually “Repeats” the words spoken by the officiant.

6-Any combination of the about that will work the best for the two of you.

We strongly encourage not to share your vows from memory since the focus of “wanting to remember the vows perfectly” creates further anxiety by of not wanting to make a mistake if will the vows be remembered correctly. Speaking the vows from memory often becomes the focus, so much of the ceremony is missed due to the worry about “getting the vows right and will I remember them”.

We hope you have enjoyed your visit and this has been helpful.

Vows of Jon and Lynne

During the summer, Jon and Lynne shared these beautiful words with each other, may their words be an inspiration to you to write from your hearts,

I, Jon, take you, Lynne to be my best friend, my inspiration, my wife. I will be yours in times of plenty and in times of want, in times of sickness and in times of health, in times of joy and in times of sorrow, in times of failure and in times of triumph, in times of poverty and times of abundance. I promise to cherish and respect you, to care and protest you, to comfort and encourage you, and stay with you for all eternity.

I, Lynne, take you Jon to be my husband. I promise to love you for all that you are. I promise to be with you for wherever the journey takes us, and to stand besides you for before all that life presents. I promise to be your soul mate, your heart mate. I promise to be your friend, you confidant, and your cheerleader. I promise to support your dreams, wishes and aspirations. I promise to be your best friend and always think of you as mine. I promise to love you forever.

Enjoy,
